Deckles wrap up to 180° around the shell in some rolls and can create enormous braking power on the shell if not properly installed. Grooves in the shell from abrasive deckles are one of the leading causes of shell replacement. Brittle deckles damaged during installation of the box into the shell can cause immediate loss of vacuum on start up. G-TEC (Graphite Teflon© Elastomeric Composite) - Coldwater's unique material specifically designed for this one application - solves these problems. G-TEC is much tougher than rubber graphite and will not fracture easily from impact. No more broken deckles! G-TEC contains no rubber -- its elastomeric binder is a tough blend of non-abrasive synthetic resins loaded with graphite and PTFE (Teflon©) to glide against the shell. G-TEC has a wear rate nearly identical to rubber graphite to quickly wear in to fit any shell without driving up horsepower consumption or causing damage to the shell.
