Headbox Inspection Service
All manufacturers of headboxes recommend an annual inspection. It is best if the inspection occurs some
months before an extended outage so that any parts required can be obtained, inspected, and the proper
planning be performed before the longer shutdown.
Coldwater Tech Services (CTS) personnel based in the US
have years of experience providing these inspections and other
headbox calibration services. These services include slice lip inspection and/or replacement of the slice
lip along with the inspection, honing and minor repairs of the apron lip, confirming the level and square
of the slice beam, calibration of the slice lip to the apron lip, inspection removal and replacement of
step diffuser inserts, inspection removal and replacement of diffuser blocks, cleaning and polishing
critical surfaces and in addition we troubleshoot streaks and flow problems.
While on site CTS personnel will seek to learn of any day to day problems from the operators and will try
to find root causes. Our final Service Report details all work performed, and any recommendations for
parts or future repairs that are needed.
