A well designed and operated vacuum system for the wet end helps achieve better paper quality and reduces power consumption.
Coldwater’s self-regulating vacuum valves are specially designed to quickly and automatically adjust to changing conditions for a constant and consistent vacuum. Our valves use air pressure in a double diaphragm chamber to maintain an instantaneous balance, giving much faster response than a ball or butterfly valve. Uncontrolled vacuum can cause two-sidedness, poor formation, pin holes, bad retention and significant waste of power.
Coldwater can evaluate and make recommendations to improve wet end operations. We have trained specialists in headbox operation and maintenance, drainage and formation, vacuum capacity and energy use, and edge control. They will gather and analyze objective data and then present recommendations for improvement in a clear and concise format.
